The Thai education system, catering to nearly 20 million students across over 37,000 institutions, has evolved significantly, rooted in reforms initiated by the 1999 National Education Act. This Act emphasized decentralization, innovative teaching methods, and organizational restructuring, ensuring 12 years of free basic education, structured into 6 years each of primary (Prathom) and secondary (Mattayom) education.
